3D Modeling in Maya
Create 3D objects in Maya and learn how the industry experts model objects and characters for animated movies and shows.
Nov. 13 - Dec. 11, 2021
The world is on the verge of a major paradigm shift in the creation of film and television content. With rapid advancements in camera technology as well as 3D animation and modeling software, we are approaching the moment where Virtual Production will all but replace traditional practical production methods. With more and more major Hollywood productions utilizing Virtual Production techniques, it is extremely important that the next generation is taught using the tools of tomorrow. In "3D Modeling in Maya" the second module of our Digital Tools of the Trade virtual production course, students will spend a large portion of the course working hands-on with Maya, the industry standard software for creating 3D objects and characters. Students will learn to model realistic looking inanimate objects such as robots and cars. This course will rely heavily on small-group workshops to allow for maximum interaction between the instructor and students.
In this module students will learn the interface and fundamental modeling and UV mapping tools of Maya to create hard and organic surfaced objects and apply materials and textures to their creations.
